IF

Data Enablement Engineer

Global Full time

Do you want to play a key role in onboarding users to If’s strategic data platform based on Databricks and dbt, and setting them up for success from day one? We are looking for a Data Enablement Engineer to be part of designing and delivering a strong onboarding experience that equips users (data engineers, ML engineers as well as analysts) to work effectively with the platform, technologies and related processes.

About the role

As a Data Enablement Engineer in If, you will become part of a squad being responsible  for establishing and delivering a strong and consistent onboarding experience for our data platform.

The focus is to ensure a smooth onboarding of users to our data platform   – including tool usage, understanding of architecture, and adherence to governance and compliance requirements.

We are currently rethinking our onboarding approach, and together with the squad you will play a key role in shaping and building how we introduce users to the platform – from first login to confident and responsible usage.

You will work closely with both platform teams and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Work directly with producer and consumer teams to onboard them onto Databricks and help them through their first real implementations
  • Provide hands-on support in areas such as Databricks, dbt, CI/CD, Git, and platform ways of working, and help teams solve concrete delivery problems as they occur.
  • Turn reusable lessons from onboarding and support into practical assets such as examples, templates, default patterns, troubleshooting guides, and training material.
  • Coach users with different backgrounds and maturity levels, adapting the support to engineers, BI profiles, and other data practitioners so they can become productive faster.
  • Strengthen the overall user experience on Databricks by reducing friction, shortening time to first success, and feeding recurring pain points back into better enablement practices and platform

Who you are?

  • Strong hands-on experience with modern data engineering and analytics tooling, with solid knowledge of Databricks and dbt and a good understanding of CI/CD, Git, and related ways of working.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and the confidence to step into messy real-world onboarding and implementation situations and help teams move forward.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly and work effectively with users of different backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Ability to combine delivery support with enablement, meaning this person can both solve problems in the moment and package the learning into reusable guidance for others.
  • Strong service mindset and personal drive, with the ability to build trust quickly, work closely with users, and make the platform easier to adopt through practical support.
  • Thrive in an organization in change

What we offer

  • A key role in shaping how If’s data platform is adopted and used
  • The opportunity to contribute to defining onboarding and enablement practices
  • A role with strong impact on both developer experience and productivity
  • Close collaboration with both technical teams and business stakeholders
