Overview
The Data Coordinator organizes, manages, and processes data to make better business decisions for the City. Collects and manages data to analyze business functions, productivity, and redundancies while ensuring data is collected properly and ethically.
Essential Functions
- Gathers, compiles, and organizes large sets of data to be used to enhance business productivity and success of the City; develops usable data sets to analyze business functions and limit redundancies.
- Analyzes and sorts data that is received and determines appropriate storage, organization, and presentation; monitors sources of data to ensure ethical, legal, and professional practices.
- Identifies and determines what data needs to be recorded and which data is unnecessary.
- Performs skilled data validation and review to ensure data is complete and accurate; prepares data for reporting, delivery, and various presentations; maintains data integrity through rigorous evaluation and competency checking.
- Collaborates with other coordinators, analysts, database administrators, and other programmers to determine and gather necessary and appropriate data to assist in decision making and service enhancement.
- Cleans, organizes, and maintains data integrity; troubleshoots and solves data problems as they arise and works with other individuals to successfully complete data projects.
- Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of data management practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of data coordination and manipulation.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal data management practices.
- Knowledgeable of database and programming languages.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and software.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to gather, organize, and compile data and information.
- Ability to interpret large data sets and effectively convey information.
- Ability to manage time and handle various projects.
- Ability to identify data issues and troubleshoot to solve problems.
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
- Establishing and maintaining effectively working relationships.
Experience
1 year of experience in data management, manipulation, organization, and evaluation.
Licenses and Certifications
A valid State of Texas driver's license
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a data science or related field (data science, math, statistics, social science, etc.) as determined by the Department Director.
Salary Range
$58,801.60 - $70,574.40
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
