Under general supervision, performs duties involved in the preparation, coordination, entering, verification, and maintenance of research data.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent with two years' clerical experience; or, a combination of education and experience equal to two years.
Experience with collecting, documenting, and organizing large amounts of data preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares a variety of forms, data, and/or specimens for mailing or further processing.
2. Enters a variety of information into a computer or charts/log books.
3. Verifies information entered as necessary by locating missing information or correcting erroneous information. Determines whether further action should be taken regarding missing forms or patient chart information.
4. Maintains information by adding, deleting, or changing information as necessary.
5. May occasionally perform participant interviews for assigned project(s).
6. Performs data abstraction from patient charts as instructed.
7. Performs general clerical duties such as typing, filing, and copying.
8. Coordinates and participates in conference and committee meetings as directed.
9. Generates routine and non-routine reports for further analysis; simple charts and summaries for study progress reports; and computer reports of data periodically.
10. Provides input regarding more efficient and effective methods of data collection for data entry purposes.
11. Orders supplies for research project.
12. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Data entry ability of 5,000 keystrokes per hour (kph) with error rate of 3% or less.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience in a research environment
