Morningstar DBRS is seeking a meticulous and analytically driven Data Content Researcher to join our growing team in Madrid.
This role sits at the critical intersection of finance, data, and product development. You will be a key liaison between the business, data engineering, and product teams, ensuring the integrity and usability of our core financial data assets.
Your deep understanding of financial data, specifically in structured finance (e.g., ABS, RMBS, CLOs) or corporate finance will be essential in shaping high-quality data products that serve our global client base.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Data Analysis:
- Analyze, interpret, and validate complex financial datasets related to structured finance and corporate credit.
- Understand the context and business logic behind the data, including how it is sourced, transformed, and utilized by analysts and clients.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and inconsistencies within large datasets.
Data Quality & Stewardship:
- Serve as a primary guardian of data quality for assigned domains.
- Design, document, and execute systematic data quality checks and validation rules in collaboration with data engineers.
- Proactively identify data issues, trace root causes, and manage resolutions through to completion.
- Work directly with business teams and data providers to cleanse, standardize, and enhance raw data.
Product & Engineering Support:
- Act as the key business subject matter expert for the data engineering and product development teams.
- Translate business requirements into clear, actionable specifications for data product enhancements.
- Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) for new data feeds, tools, and product features.
- Contribute to the documentation of data dictionaries, lineage, and quality metrics.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with credit analysts, data engineers, product managers, and commercial teams across regions
- Communicate data insights, issues, and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4+ years' experience working with financial data; ideally within a ratings agency, financial research, investment bank, asset manager, fintech, or data provider.
- Knowledge of structured finance (e.g., securitization, asset-backed securities, credit facilities) or corporate finance (financial statements, credit metrics, debt instruments).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with data quality management concepts and tools.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- CFA is a plus.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Experience with Python, R, or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Experience with AWS concepts and infrastructure is a plus.
Base Salary Compensation Range
EUR 47,000.00-65,666.66
Bonus Target:
12.5% Annual
We expect the compensation and target bonus for this role to fall within the stated range. The specific compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
