Role Overview/Purpose:
As a Data Centre Engineer, you will play a vital role in our team, using your in-depth knowledge of industry hardware and technical problem-solving skills to contribute to our success. Your positive attitude and passion for your work will be key as you collaborate with diverse internal teams and outside vendors to resolve technical issues. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to produce clear and concise documentation and interact effectively with colleagues throughout the company. This is what you’ll be doing:
- You will provide local technical support for the infrastructure tribes to ensure the rapid resolution of all Data Centre related service issues.
- Adhering strictly to all Data Centre standards, policies, processes and change control procedures.
- As part of the Data Centre team, you will drive performance of all third parties that support the Data Centre Operations.
- Assembling and testing server systems and networking hardware will be required.
- Perform necessary tasks to support the provision of data backup and recovery services including media rotation and storage.
- You will need to show strong ability in working closely with Data Centre team, while managing key stakeholders.
- Undertake hardware upgrades within infrastructure hardware.
- Working within a team to drive excellence while support business goals and objectives.
- Work with all departments within the CTO organisation, as required, to ensure that projects are delivered on time.
Behavioural Competencies
- Good level of experience in two or more of the following:
- 24x7 data centre environment
- Field Service role supporting Server technologies.
- Front line in hardware technical support.
- Backup and recovery
- Proven experience of Installing enterprise level hardware.
- Very good knowledge of Dell, HP, Cisco, Arista, NetApp and PureStorage technology platforms.
- High degree of understanding of mechanical and electrical infrastructure/technologies that support data centres. generators, UPS, CRAC units.
- Understanding of tools/systems used to manage data centres. (Security, BMS, Fire Protection, rack management, capacity management)
- Experience of working with UTP and fibre cabling.
- Systematic approach to high quality installation work.
- Practical experience of change management procedures.
- Understanding an Agile approach to workflow management

- Be ready and available to travel to support remote locations.
- Travel is required between our local data centres/Head office so access to personal transport is a must to function in this role.
- Occasional travel to our European offices.
