The Data Center Technician’s responsibilities include maintaining the data center’s IT system, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a strong understanding of network infrastructure and data center operations.
Familiarity with server installations and network updates is also required.
Installing and configuring data center infrastructure including servers, racks, switches and other hardware
Regularly monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
Performing regular maintenance and updates to systems, software, and hardware
Ensuring the data center’s HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems are operating efficiently
Carrying out routine network maintenance tasks, such as managing user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam
Ensuring the data center’s power supply is consistent and reliable
Ensuring data backups are completed and stored correctly
Assisting with disaster recovery operations in the event of power failures, fires, or other disasters
Documenting procedures, systems and network configuration
Complying with and maintaining security standards within the data center
Communicating regularly with other IT staff and management to report on status of the data center
Engineers will provide troubleshooting, repair, parts ordering, preventative maintenance and Installation of Dell product located at Customer Site.
Triage issues with direction from Dell Support
Execute plan of action from Dell Domain Engineer/L3
Document POA Results, logs and service reports (Parts numbers/PPID of old/new parts replaced) to Dell via case email
Reseating parts, swap or replace parts
Server Testing and validation (running diagnostics, capturing and uploading logs)
Upgrading Firmware as needed
Parts locker management, manage inbound and outbound parts
Spare parts management, separate from parts locker (during CW server deployments)
Parts return to Dell
You will be successful in this role if you have:
High School Diploma or GED required
May require technical certification or Associate Degree
Generally, 4-6 years’ experience in area of responsibility
