Position summary

We are looking for self-driven individuals with great problem solving and analytical skills to fill data steward position within the ESG group.  The successful candidate will become an SME on climate and environmental data products and any other new products which are supported from the group.

Duties & accountabilities

  • Work cross-functionally with data ops, technology, research, and product teams for the successful implementation of new products and enhancements, ensuring seamless integration across multiple data sources and platforms
  • Understand the data requirements of research team and work with shared capabilities team to aggregate data into data platform from various sources like CIQ Pro, IHS, Commodity Insights, etc., while maintaining data lineage and establishing robust data governance protocols
  • Responsible for the quality of new and existing datasets data refreshes, implementing comprehensive validation frameworks and establishing quality metrics that ensure data accuracy and completeness across all deliverables
  • Create and own documentation on data flows and identify and manage pre- and post-steps in the data management process, including detailed process maps, dependency tracking, and impact analysis for system changes
  • Develop gradual and ever-increasing expertise on the core climate, impact, and downstream innovation data sets, becoming a subject matter expert who can guide strategic decisions and provide insights on data trends and anomalies
  • Leverage AI and machine learning tools for automated quality checking, anomaly detection, and dataset validation to enhance data accuracy and reduce manual review time
  • Utilize AI-powered tools for dataset building, including automated data classification, pattern recognition, and predictive modeling to improve data enrichment processes
  • Clearing internal and external client cases on timely manner and coming up with preventive quality checks, including root cause analysis and implementation of systematic improvements to prevent recurring issues
  • Work closely with Scrum, Research and Product teams for creation/finalization of data structures for new datasets, ensuring optimal performance and scalability while meeting business requirements
  • Work with the client services team to resolve any time-sensitive data delivery concerns and provide inputs on the long-term delivery strategy, including capacity planning and resource optimization

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, data science, finance, or management
  • 5+ years of Data Management/Operations experience within the financial industry with demonstrated expertise in large-scale data processing and quality management
  • Experience working with database structures and data analysis, including proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehouse concepts
  • Comfortable with SQL with the ability to write moderate to complex data pull queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization techniques
  • Understanding of Agile framework and experience working in sprint-based development cycles with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with AI/ML tools for data quality assurance, anomaly detection, or automated dataset validation
  • Self-starter that can work independently with little supervision, and lead teams to a common goal while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or AWS, programming languages like Python or R, and version control tools like Git or similar collaboration platforms
  • Experience implementing AI-powered solutions for data management, including machine learning models for data classification, quality scoring, or automated data enrichment
  • Strong collaborator across global teams and with multiple functional roles including research, technology, product management and client services, with proven ability to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders
  • Experience with ESG market: market needs, competitive landscape, methodologies, regulatory landscape, and market trends, particularly in sustainability data and climate risk assessment
