JOB POSITION
- Carelon Global Solutions India is seeking for a highly skilled and experienced Managing Director to join our dynamic team.
- As a Managing Director leading Data and AI Towers - will be responsible for Strategy, Vision, Leadership, Program and Product Delivery and Operational efficiency of large-scale delivery for the towers.
- This role is at leadership level and reports to Technology Head India – at Carelon Global Solutions LLP.
- This is a strategic role involved in providing the leadership and guidance to scale both capabilities and execution excellence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Strategic Leadership
- Define and lead the strategic direction for data and AI across Carelon and Elevance Health.
- Define the charter plan in line with Organizational Blue-chip goals
- Partner with senior executives and business unit leaders to identify and prioritize high-impact Data & AI initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Drive the development of a scalable, secure, and ethical data and AI ecosystem.
Innovation and Data & AI Implementation
- Oversee the development, deployment, and governance of AI/ML models and solutions across clinical, operational, and member experience domains.
- Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement in data science and AI capabilities.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including generative AI, computer vision, and NLP.
- Drive the research, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions across various business functions, including but not limited to:
- Personalized member experiences and engagement.
- Improved clinical outcomes and quality of care.
- Enhanced operational efficiency and automation.
- Fraud detection and prevention.
- Predictive analytics for risk management and population health
Data Management & Governance
- Champion data governance and stewardship, ensuring data quality, security, compliance, and ethical use of data and AI technologies.
- Lead data architecture, data engineering, and platform strategy to ensure robust data infrastructure supporting enterprise needs.
- Provide thought leadership in areas such as Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data on Cloud, Data Security, Data Analytics, Data Visualization and Data Governance.
- Create and propagate best practices related to tool adoption and cloud migrations
Team Leadership
- Build, lead, mentor and inspire a world-class team of data scientists, AI researchers, data engineers, and analytics professionals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and broader organization.
- Work with HR team to define and develop Data and AI workforce of future.
Collaboration and Influence
- Represent Elevance Health in external forums, academic partnerships, and industry groups focused on AI and healthcare innovation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technology, clinical, operations, compliance, and product teams.
- Collaborate effectively with senior leaders across all business units (e.g., Clinical, Operations, Finance, Marketing, IT) to understand their data and AI needs and translate them into actionable projects and initiatives
Operational Leadership
- Develop and manage the budget, with P&L responsibility for the Data and AI organization, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic goals
- Effectively communicate the value and impact of data and AI initiatives to executive leadership and other stakeholders. Advocate for the importance of data-driven decision-making across the organization
- Ensure compliance of Data and AI teams to regulatory and other organizational defined standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technology, clinical, operations, compliance, and product teams.
External Partnerships: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with external vendors, research institutions, and technology providers to stay abreast of the latest advancements in data and AI and leverage external expertise.
- Keep up to date with the latest research in AI and related fields and explore opportunities to apply new techniques to our platform.
- Proven experience in Rapid Innovations and Prototypes in Generative AI areas like LLMs and ChatGPT like Industry leading Open Large Language models
- Work on identifying potential startups to accelerate value to business through quick to market solutions
Delivery Leadership:
- Manage end to end delivery of programs and projects within the portfolio and take proactive steps to address and mitigate any risks to deliverables.
- Lead the development and deployment of Data products, Data Platform, ML/DL and Gen AI models for content: understanding, embeddings, recommender systems, and ranking.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of user behavior, preferences, and engagement patterns through the use of Data and AI
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, design, and data science, to identify and prioritize opportunities for Data and AI.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Data and AI team at Carelon Global Solutions India.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions that drive business outcomes.
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle management for Data and AI solutions, from ideation to product launch and beyond.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify technology trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
- Collaborate with business functions / stake holders to enable solutions defining product vision, strategy, and roadmap based on business needs and business goals.
- Translate potential business problems statements into clear technology solutions using next gen stack.
- Build delivery pod teams with right domain knowledge and technical capabilities to enable all functions across organization through the Innovation led through Data and AI journey.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and make data-driven decisions.
- Active participations in external events and conferences to represent the organization demonstrating the stand in Innovation journey and success story.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, emerging technologies, and build inhouse capability to scale up CGS stand in overall journey.
QUALIFICATION
- Compulsory experience in delivering large services programs as well as product development in Data and Artificial Intelligence/NLP/Large Language Models
- Relevant experience of total 22 to 25 years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data integration, Data products and platforms, AI, NLP. Machine learning and Deep learning, Computer Vision
- Knowledge / experience in Healthcare domain (AHM 250 or AHM 500 certifications are a plus)
EXPERIENCE
- Deep technical background in applied machine learning, LLMs, including deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and data engineering.
- An eye for product and relentlessly putting the customer at the heart of your strategic decisions.
- Previous experience in building and leading ML teams in creating end-to-end machine learning pipelines, including algorithms and tooling.
- Handled a team of at least 2000+ Data and AI professionals in the current role.
- This position is based out of Bangalore/Hyderabad/Gurugram and the person should be willing to relocate.
- Prior experience of Design, development and Overutilize the Large-scale enterprise class Data and AI Platforms in US Healthcare market is vital for this role.
- Familiarity with Global Delivery Model is required for being successful in this role
- Any Prior experience of building the AI Enterprise class platforms is good to have for this role.
- 5 to 10 years of proven leadership capability of managing the Data/AI/Digital Transformation with overseeing the large and complete research/Innovations in Data & AI area will be required for this leadership role.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Prior US Healthcare Industry experience from any payer or Provider background.
- Any exposure to US Healthcare Payer Life cycle: Claims, Clinical, Provider, Operational or experience platforms
- Hands on experience with any of the Industry Leading Cloud AI Platforms for large scale deployments in enterprise class AI Platforms space. GCP AI Cloud, MS Open AI Cloud or AWS Cloud AI Offerings.
- Hands on experience in Providing the thought capital and driving the change with Innovation with Applied AI capabilities.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
