Job Summary
The Data and Systems Engineer (Manufacturing & MES) will support Jabil’s manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining production routes, optimizing data flows, ensuring MES integrity, and driving system reliability across all workcells. This role blends data engineering, manufacturing systems support, and MES troubleshooting to enhance operational efficiency, improve data accuracy, and enable real-time decision-making through analytics and automation.
Job Responsibilities
*Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot MES (Manufacturing Execution System) workflows, station logic, and production routes.
*Resolve MES-related issues impacting operations, including routing errors, data collection gaps, machine integration failures, and transaction discrepancies.
*Partner with Production, Test, IE, and ME teams to implement updates to routing, BOM configurations, and station-level data requirements.
*Ensure MES data integrity, accuracy, and alignment with SAP and other enterprise systems.
* Develop and manage data models, schemas, and databases to support analytics, reporting, and operational requirements.
*Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting manufacturing dashboards and reporting.
*Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimized database structures to support operational analytics and system behavior insight.
*Create Power BI dashboards for production metrics, FPY, cycle-time, WIP tracking, quality trends, and executive-level reporting.
*Administer and monitor databases used for manufacturing, testing, and performance reporting.
*Automate repetitive data operations and system-monitoring tasks using Python or other scripting tools.
*Support integration between MES, test systems, equipment interfaces, automation controllers, and cloud/on-premise data platforms.
*Assist with root-cause analysis for system failures, data dropouts, or logic issues across MES, databases, and manufacturing applications
*Maintain documentation of MES workflows, route logic, data flows, and system architecture diagrams.
*Ensure adherence to data governance and system security standards.
*Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, QE, planners, and IT resources to ensure systems meet operational needs and customer requirements.
*Participate in after-hours or on-call support rotation for critical MES or data-system downtime events.
Job Qualifications
*Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field.
*3+ years of experience in data engineering, MES engineering, manufacturing systems support, or related roles.
*Strong proficiency in SQL, including experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
*Hands-on experience supporting or configuring MES systems.
*Experience building Power BI reports using DAX, data modeling, and enterprise gateway connections.
*Ability to develop and maintain ETL pipelines and automated data flows using tools or scripting (Python preferred).
*Understanding of manufacturing operations workflows (BTO/CTO/ABCTO), routing, work instructions, and data collection requirements.
*Familiarity with system integrations between MES, ERP (SAP), automation equipment, PLCs, and test systems.
*Experience with version control (Git) and modern development practices.
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in troubleshooting MES or database issues under time pressure.
*Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering and operations teams.
*Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
