Role Title: Data and Configuration Manager

Background and Scope: 

Amentum has been tasked by Defence to source a range of specialist resources to provide support for the delivery of a range of patrol vessels, specialist ships, and maritime capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Border Force, and partner nations. This includes:

- Delivering six Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Royal Australian Navy.
- Delivering a new sail training ship.
- Delivering twenty‑four Patrol Boats to Pacific and Indian Ocean partner nations under the Commonwealth’s Pacific Maritime Security Program.
- Delivering ten Patrol Boats for the Royal Australian Navy.
- Delivering up to eleven additional Patrol Boats for the Australian Border Force.
- Managing procurement of vessels and vessel‑like assets for Defence and other agencies.
- Supporting other tasking as directed by senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

As a Data and Configuration Manager you will be required to support configuration and technical data management across vessel programs to ensure controlled baselines, verified technical packages, risk‑aware decision‑making, and a clean transition to operations and sustainment. You will support activities across the combined branches and will be responsible for:

- Performing complex technical configuration activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes
- Demonstration and application of knowledge and experience to develop and review technical packages
- Applying technical knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties and take these into account in planning, decision making and priority setting
- Accessing technical packages, reports, processes and product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, provide recommendations for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions
- Ensuring technical data integrity is adequate and transition to operations and sustainment environments
- Provision of technical advice to delivery executives
- Engagement with stakeholders to ensure alignment on matters related to operational milestones
- Reviewing contract deliverables

Essential Requirements:

- Demonstrated long term experience in configuration and/or data management on complex engineered systems: ideally shipbuilding, naval platforms, patrol boats, or comparable defence programs.
- Leadership of Change Control Boards, baseline establishment, and multi‑disciplinary configuration of platform + mission systems.
- Proven experience in transition to operations/sustainment: clean data packs, validated as‑built/as‑maintained, and successful handover to the operator/maintainer.

Desirable Requirements:
- Exceptional key stakeholder management and negotiation skills across both Australian and International associates
- Qualifications in configuration, asset, quality or systems engineering
