Who You Are
You are a strategic Data & AI Engineering leader with a passion for driving enterprise-wide digital transformation through robust Data foundations and modern Data & AI engineering practices. You thrive in cross-functional environments, working at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution to deliver transversal digital initiatives that span multiple business units and functions.
In your role, you will be reporting directly into the Head of Data, AI and Governance Platforms, serving as the technical anchor for Data Engineering across strategic digital initiatives. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders across Digital, Data, IT, and business functions to design, build, and operationalize scalable data assets and products that enable data-driven decision-making across Sanofi. You are an influencer who can translate complex technical concepts into business value while maintaining the highest standards of data architecture, quality, and governance.
You bring deep expertise in modern data engineering tools and practices—particularly DBT, Airflow, and Snowflake—and have a proven track record of building cloud-native data platforms that serve as the foundation for analytics, AI/ML, and operational excellence. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, driving alignment across diverse stakeholders, and establishing best practices that can scale across the enterprise.

Main Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise data engineering solutions supporting transversal digital initiatives
Partner with Digital Strategy & Operations leadership to translate strategic priorities into actionable data engineering roadmaps and deliverables
Build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines and workflows using modern data stack technologies (DBT, Airflow, Snowflake) to ingest, transform, and deliver high-quality data products
Establish and champion data engineering standards, best practices, and reusable assets that drive efficiency, consistency, and quality across the organization
Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams including data scientists, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions
Implement and enforce data governance policies, data quality frameworks, and security standards to ensure compliance and trustworthiness of data assets
Drive the adoption of "data as a product" principles, treating data assets as products with clear ownership, SLAs, documentation, and user support
Support lifecycle management of deployed data products including monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, change management, and continuous improvement
Contribute to and help lead the data engineering community of practice, fostering knowledge sharing, innovation, and technical excellence
Manage project timelines, resources, and dependencies for data engineering initiatives, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with strategic objectives
Drive innovation and the adoption of new data technologies and best practices within the data engineering team, staying updated with industry trends and advancements
Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of a talented and collaborative engineering team.
About You

Strategic thinker with the ability to bridge business strategy and technical execution, ensuring data engineering solutions deliver measurable business value
Proven experience working in cross-functional teams within large, complex organizations to solve enterprise-scale data challenges
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with executives, business leaders, and technical teams
Strong storytelling ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, work autonomously, and drive initiatives forward with limited direction
Experience establishing and scaling data engineering practices, standards, and governance frameworks across multiple teams or business units
Deep understanding of agile/scrum methodologies and experience working in product-oriented, iterative development environments
Strong business acumen with the ability to understand organizational priorities and align technical solutions accordingly
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
Attention to detail combined with systems-thinking and architectural intuition
Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field, with 5-8+ years of relevant working experience
Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in engineering roles, with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity.
Demonstrated experience (typically 1-3+ years) in leading, mentoring, or technically guiding other engineers or team members.
Proven track record of successfully designing, building, and deploying complex data platforms and data products, with deep knowledge of modern data engineering tech stack
(Airflow, DBT, Snowflake and AWS native services).
Experience with Agile methodologies and the ability to manage projects from conception to deployment.
Solid understanding of data governance principles, data security best practices, and data quality management. Proven experience orchestrating complex data workflows and managing dependencies using Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools
Solid understanding of data warehouse, data lake, and data lakehouse architectures; familiarity with data mesh principles
Experience with cloud platforms and services, preferably AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, etc.)
Knowledge of data integration patterns including batch, streaming, and near real-time processing
Strong grasp of data governance principles, data quality management, and data security best practices
Experience with CI/CD practices, infrastructure as code, and DevOps principles for data platforms
Understanding of software development lifecycle, version control, and agile delivery methodologies
Nice to Haves
Experience working in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry
Familiarity with data observability and monitoring tools (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations, etc.)
Experience with source code management tools (GitHub, GitLab)
Knowledge of visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps)
Experience with data science and ML platforms (Databricks, SageMaker, etc.)
Understanding of pharmaceutical R&D, manufacturing, or commercial business processes
Certifications in Snowflake, AWS, or relevant data engineering technologies
Previous experience in consulting or working across multiple business domains

$125,300.00 - $208,800.00Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.
