Job Description:

What’s the role

We’re scaling decision intelligence for Non‑Fuel Retail (NFR) across priority market clusters (CEE, DACH, UK, Benefrux). The Team Lead will turn ambiguous business problems into structured analytical work, raise the bar on visualization and data storytelling, and coach a team of 7–8 to deliver consistently high‑quality insights and BI products that land with business impact.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner with business stakeholders to decompose complex problems into analytical hypotheses and workstreams, selecting the right approaches (descriptive, diagnostic, Inquisitive, prescriptive where relevant) and setting crisp success measures.

  • Translate requirements into solution blueprints spanning data sources, semantic models, and visualization patterns; sequence delivery into iterative increments with clear acceptance criteria.

  • Set visualization standards and coach the team on when/what/how to use bar/line, small multiples, trellis, Pareto, cumulative, funnels, waterfall, variance/bullet, decomposition trees, KPIs, and geospatial components to tell the story of business metrics and drivers.

  • Curate executive‑ready narratives and PPT storytelling—balancing clarity, candor, and evidence.

  • Manage capacity, performance, and growth: objective‑setting, regular 1:1s, coaching plans, and skills roadmaps; foster a high‑trust, feedback‑rich culture.

  • Guide peer reviews, code/design walkthroughs, and ensure robust documentation and knowledge sharing.

  • Own the backlog and release plan for your portfolio; ensure on‑time, first‑time‑right delivery.

  • Institutionalize QC/QA gates (requirements, data profiling, peer review, functional testing, accessibility checks, performance checks) and measurable Defect Leakage/Rework thresholds.

  • Ensure no redundancy of work. Focus on re-use what is available from Global teams

  • Orchestrate across multiple senior stakeholders (global/category leads, market teams in CEE/DACH/UK/Benelux, Product/IDT) and navigate tough conversations (trade‑offs, scope, value realization).

  • Run an engagement rhythm (SteerCo updates, demos, show‑and‑tells) and maintain a transparent meeting log.

  • Provide hands‑on guidance and review across:

    • Power BI (data modeling with star schema, DAX, Power Query/M, RLS, app deployment & workspace hygiene)

    • Databricks (PySpark/SQL, Delta, job orchestration, MLflow where applicable)

    • SQL (T‑SQL/ANSI; query design, performance tuning, data validation)

    • GenAI – Ensuring all Dashboards are AI ready

  • Ensure platform governance and data privacy guardrails are met.

  • Define a continuous improvement roadmap (visual standards, reusable semantic models, Code standardization, Dashboard Standardization) and drive adoption.

  • Benchmark against internal and external best practices to progress team capability and impact.

  • Knowledge of NFR business is a must—category performance, pricing & promos, compliance, and partner/alliance analytics—with deep familiarity across CEE, DACH, UK, and BeneFrlux market nuances.

What you bring

  • 8–12 years in Analytics/BI, Retail Analytics with 2+ years leading a team of ~7–8 or ability to demonstrate a similar TL experience.

  • Preferred background in Retail, CPG, or E-commerce.

  • Deep understanding of Retail/CPG KPIs, benchmarking, A/B testing, hypothesis testing, and pre-post analysis.

  • Experience in Retail and store-level analytics.

  • Demonstrated mastery in breaking down business problems and proposing analytical solutions that land with impact.

  • Visualization & data storytelling craft: selecting the right visual grammar; compelling executive narratives; excellent PPT skills.

  • Power BI (advanced): DAX, Power Query, composite models, RLS, lineage/impact analysis, app lifecycle.

  • Databricks (strong): PySpark/SQL, Delta Lake, jobs & clusters, dev→test→prod patterns.

  • SQL expertise: data modeling, performance tuning, complex transformations, data quality checks.

  • Stakeholder management across senior levels; confident in difficult conversations and conflict resolution.

  • Track record of quality‑first delivery with measurable standards and peer‑review discipline.

  • NFR business fluency: understands commercial levers (category/price/promo/space/loyalty) and market‑specific dynamics across CEE, DACH, UK, Benelux.
