Job Summary: The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia is distinct among U. S. Attorney's Offices due to the breadth and scale of its work. It acts as both the local and the federal prosecutor for the nation's capital. Locally, it handles cases ranging from misdemeanor drug possession to murders, while federally, it handles cases ranging from child pornography to gangs, financial fraud, and terrorism. The Office also represents the district in civil suits.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a student (undergraduate or graduate) studying Data Science or a related field with at least 4 or more semesters in their program, with an emphasis on statistical analysis and computation, processing large datasets, and data visualization; and an interest in providing solutions related to prosecution. An applicant for this internship must be a United States citizen, enrolled and seeking a degree in a qualifying education institution on a half- to full-time basis (as determined by the educational institution), and seeking a degree that is relevant to this position. The applicant must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Please note that every student internship is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a security clearance. Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to work in any capacity before his or her security clearance is successfully completed.
