What’s the role
Shell Canada is seeking a Data Analyst (also known internally as an Operations Analyst) to join its team at the Scotford Refinery.
This role provides essential analytical support for Scotford, including Production. This role reports to the Operations Central Services Team and is responsible for effective data monitoring and tracking of critical business functions. These include budget management, overtime control, execution efficiency, and monitoring key performance indicators. Together, these activities are fundamental in driving improvements in overall business performance.
Serving as a key enabler for the interpretation of site-wide data at Scotford, the Data Analyst also supports the Site Leadership Team through the Operations Analyst Lead. The role involves consolidating data from multiple sources, disciplines, and departments to accurately assess where business targets are being met and to identify areas requiring corrective action. The successful candidate is also responsible for clearly communicating insights to stakeholders, supporting Scotford’s continuous improvement journey and alignment with its business objectives.
Accountabilities:
Deliver comprehensive analysis for the Production team to provide the organization with assurance on key performance metrics
Prepare monthly reports to assess and deliver performance insights e.g. budget report, maintenance efficiency
Verify and ensure integrity of data and data sources in dashboards and reports
Transform raw data into actionable information by leveraging tools such as Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint
Support HR ER/IR teams by performing data analysis as required
Provide data analyst support to key functions e.g. Maintenance and Engineering
Provide oversight and analytical review of data within SchedulePro
Analyze the application of the Hourly Pay Practice (HPP), Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and scheduling practices.
Communicate key insights to leaders to ensure consistent application of policies and practices
Offer time entry and backup support for the Production Time Focals regarding payroll entry
Provide executive and administrative support to Production and other departments
Serve as backup support to the Operations Analyst Lead when needed
May be required to fill a reserve worker role as necessary
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Minimum of at least 2 years of experience in data analytics & reporting, business intelligence, or related field working in a complex organization
Proficiency in using analytical applications such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau in developing solutions is considered an asset
Proficiency in SQL, DAX and advanced data querying with experience extracting from various data platforms
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as this role regularly interacts with multiple teams
