The Data Analyst will join the Technology Strategic Spend Team to drive the delivery of information for decision making and various analysis for Northern Trust's Technology Organization. This role is responsible for Technology-specific analysis and information delivery focused on optimization of labor, software, and hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to translate complex business needs into impactful data solutions.

Major Duties:

  • Support the analytics needs of Technology’s Strategic Spend organization and enable insights across the broader Technology organization.
  • Works with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their strategies, how they align with corporate strategies and determine ways to use analytics to drive decision making
  • Work with the IT Optimization team to develop and report on metrics and key performance indicators
  • Work with Enterprise License Management team to develop and report on utilization of software and hardware licenses to maintain compliance
  • Work with the Total Cost of Ownership team to deliver reporting to application teams and Technology Leadership.
  • Use a combination of tools (SQL, Power BI, Excel, and/or Power Point) to create and deliver insightful reporting in a sustainable and scalable manner
  • Create and maintain requirements, specifications, and business processes documentation
  • Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve accuracy, viability and value
  • Foster a positive and collaborative environment

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, reporting, business intelligence
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • Candidate must have strong presentation and reporting skills, as well as high degrees of skill with Power BI, SQL, Excel, and Power Point.  
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data for analytical projects and translate that data into sound insights.
  • Familiarity with relational and dimensional database concepts, querying, data warehouses, requirements gathering and/or decision support tools preferred
    Strong project management skills a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate across technology teams.

Salary Range:

$83,100 - 141,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
