Data Analyst - Genomics

RTP NC Full time

Labcorp’s Women’s Health and Genetics Division is seeking a Genomics Data Analyst to join our team of clinical laboratory professionals in RTP, NC! The Data Analyst team is responsible for analyzing data generated from clinical molecular laboratories in RTP, NC and in Westborough, MA. The team has primary expertise in analyzing sequencing data from next-generation, exome, and Sanger assays, and additional expertise in analyzing copy number data from MLPA and microarray. The team works closely with the laboratory and the clinical directors to ensure high quality results are provided to patients. This is an office-based position.

The schedule for this position will be: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm with potential for weekend rotations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review genomics data from NGS, Sanger, qPCR, MLPA, and microarray assays, to facilitate high quality molecular genetics and molecular oncology testing

  • Provide accurate and reliable data analyses to clinical directors, with supporting documentation; draft patient reports as needed

  • Ensure quality by performing QC and QA checks, adhering to SOPs, and maintaining competency

  • Maintain expertise through continuing education

  • Identify and suggest process improvements to the data analysis supervisor

  • Recognize problems, contribute to troubleshooting, and escalate problems appropriately

  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned,  including documentation, maintenance of SOPs, participation in proficiency testing, and support of user acceptance testing for new test launches

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when visiting the laboratory

  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, health and safety policies and procedures, and the requirements of accrediting organizations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • 1 year of clinical lab testing with human specimens is required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • ASCP Certification with specialty in Molecular Biology, Certified Medical Technologist, or equivalent certification a plus

  • Previous experience with sequence analysis and familiarity with sequence analysis software is preferred

  • Proficiency in computing and internet skills, including use of in-house and online databases and browsers, and Excel and Adobe

  • Previous experience with molecular diagnostic methods, including DNA isolation, capillary electrophoresis, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, microarray, and MLPA

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, quickly learn new tasks, and be meticulous

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic setting

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
