Data Analyst - Credit Risk & Underwriting

Ebury (Madrid) Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week

Mission

Join Ebury's Analytics team in Madrid to build and maintain the data models and predictive frameworks that underpin our Underwriting and Credit Risk decisions. You'll go beyond reporting, designing scalable analytics assets, training explainable ML models, and translating risk signals into clear business actions.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and maintain robust dbt data models that transform raw data into analytics-ready assets for Credit Risk and Underwriting.
  • Write and optimise complex SQL and Python pipelines to model credit outcomes and surface early warning signals.
  • Train, validate, and document explainable ML models (e.g., logistic regression, gradient-boosted trees) to predict defaults and portfolio behaviour.
  • Own key Underwriting and Credit Risk KPIs, ensuring dashboards are accurate and up to date.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Sigma and Looker Studio that make risk data accessible to Business and Product stakeholders.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Credit Risk, and Product teams to turn model outputs into actionable strategy.

What you'll own

  • The end-to-end data modelling layer for Underwriting and Credit Risk analytics.
  • Portfolio health monitoring and alerting framework.
  • Documentation and explainability artefacts for all production ML models.
  • Stakeholder-facing dashboards and regular risk reporting cadence.

  • Data modelling: dbt
  • BI / visualisation: Sigma, Looker Studio
  • ML modelling: Predictive modeling (XGBoost, CatBoost, Scikit-learn)

What you’ll need

  • 2+ years in a data-focused role within Banking, Fintech, or Consultancy.

  • Working proficiency in Python for data analysis and modelling.
  • Experience building and maintaining dbt projects.
  • Foundational understanding of supervised learning techniques and model evaluation (precision, recall, AUC, etc.).
  • Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders clearly and directly.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • High standards for data quality and reproducibility

Nice-to-have skills

  • Direct experience with Credit Risk analytics or default modelling.
  • Familiarity with Sigma and/or Looker Studio.
