Data Analyst - Big Data and Analytics Platform

Reston, VA Full time

This position supports an enterprise big data and analytics platform that leverages emerging technology to ingest data in real time at extreme volumes and high velocity. The role focuses on data mining, analysis, and visualization to uncover insights and solve business problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a versatile data analyst, supporting both software development lifecycle (SDLC) and business operations.

  • In SDLC:

    • Provide input into data architecture design.

    • Analyze data outputs to validate quality and communicate gaps to development teams.

    • Validate SIT and CAT results to ensure products meet acceptance criteria.

    • Support production data validation and investigations.

  • In business support:

    • Triage and investigate user inquiries.

    • Query and analyze data to identify actionable business insights.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in data analytics and SQL or other structured query languages.

  • Strong mathematical background; familiarity with physical-world measures.

  • Ability to quickly learn postal processes, terminology, and physical data sources (POS, scan, scales, etc.).

  • Mastery of MS Office Suite (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across all levels.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience querying and exploring data within NoSQL platforms (e.g., Hadoop/Hive).

  • Familiarity with Avro schema.

  • Postal or mailing industry experience.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$73,722.00 - $125,327.00
