The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Health has an exciting opportunity for a full time Data Analyst 1 to work in Miami, FL.
The Data Analyst 1 performs basic data analysis using various techniques. This role assists with maintaining databases and dashboards to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives. Key responsibilities include generating reports and analyzes data for internal planning processes and reporting purposes. This role also analyzes data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management. Interact with potential and current study participants, including recruitment, request of consent for participation, interview and implementation of social network interventions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Performs basic data analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining.
- Researches best practices and supports developing the solutions and recommendations for the current business operations.
- Generates reports and analyzes data for internal planning processes and reporting purposes.
- Maintains databases and dashboards to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives.
- Provides basic business data interpretation, such as identifying trends or patterns of data sets.
- Analyzes information in reports to support the department's planning, needs, goals, and objectives.
- Analyzes data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department specific functions
- Gathering, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources (REDCap, Qualtrics, spreadsheets)
- Perform statistical analysis to provide insight on data related manners.
- Assistant in maintaining data quality and data assurance by maintaining, building, and creating code scripts.
- Using tools like Python or R for data manipulation.
- Familiarity with tools like Git/Github for versioning code.
- Assist in maintaining dashboards for presenting, visualizing, and monitoring incoming data from various projects.
- Ability and having working knowledge of reproducibility.
- Create and maintain various reports on end-to-end reproducible analysis and workflow.
- Interest and some working knowledge on social network mechanism through a public health lens
- Assist senior data analyst in preparing reports on social network related studies.
- Participate in team meetings and provide updates on study progress, issues, and outcomes.
- Effectively communicate with research team about data queries.
- Administer the various on-going project protocols (assessment/surveys).
- Ability and cultural competence in working with diverse, multiracial populations in South Florida.
- Contact and interacting with projects participants in-person, via Zoom and over the phone.
- Assistant project manager with duties regarding active on-going protocol data collection.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
- Detailed orientated to ensure data work accuracy and quality.
- Interact with potential and current study participants, including recruitment, request of consent for participation, interview and implementation of social network interventions.
Work Conditions:
- Must be able to work flexible hours depending on study needs. Flexible hours may include evening and weekend activities. Remote work is not allowed.
- Must possess a current, valid Florida driver’s license.
- Must have reliable own transportation and be willing to use personal transportation for work purposes.
- Local travel throughout South Florida will be required.

Core Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of clinical research protocols and IRB processes is preferred
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) is required.
