About This Opportunity
The Cybersecurity Intern contributes to execution of Cybersecurity activities as defined by Project Cybersecurity Manager. The Intern contributes to ensuring consistency of project solutions that are cyber secure by design. That is, according to defined cyber security policy, technical roadmap, and Customer requirements/needs. Coordinates Cybersecurity related reviews, consultation, and guidance for all project cybersecurity activities contributing to project adherence to Hitachi Rail, Signalling and Rail Solutions (SRS) customer cybersecurity requirements. They will also draft, coordinate, and in some cases contribute to execution of, the cybersecurity activities (security management plans, requirements, risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, etc.).
Key Accountabilities
Execute the cybersecurity process that includes describing the security activities in the project/product development lifecycle including plans, requirements, design, risk assessment, testing, vulnerability management, etc. according to the established cybersecurity process
Contribute to maintaining awareness of and as required propose incorporation of adopted industry standards and methodologies for cybersecurity assessment and project development
Aligns to, leverages from and contributes to the Ground Transportation Systems Cyber Security guidelines
Coordinate provisioning of specialty engineering in the form of consultation services for project and product, and contribute to execution of risk assessments, and technical vulnerability assessments
Seek guidance from Project Cybersecurity Manager, or Cybersecurity Authority, on use of industry standards, and following Hitachi Rail group processes and policies
Key Requirements
The successful candidate should be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
Familiarity with cybersecurity architecture, design, risk assessment and development
Understanding of project and software development lifecycle, gates and process oriented
Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and succinctly with peers about complex technical matters
Excellent writing skills, experience writing papers, and technical documentation
Ability to work a 40-hour work week throughout the internship, following a hybrid work model with at least two days per week in the office.
Preferred Qualifications
Co-op student available for an 8–16 month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the completion of the internship.
Familiarity with security standards: ISO 27001/2, NIST SP 800 series, IEC 62443
Cyber Security-related certification is a plus
Prior Product development, industrial engineering and industrial control systems experience is preferred
