GDIT is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Exercise Planner to join our J6 Directorate's Exercise Team. As a member of the Future Operations and Plans (FUOPS) Branch, you will work closely with USCENTCOM J5/7 to develop and synchronize support for USCENTCOM's exercise programs within the USCENTCOM Information Technology Services (CITS) program. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical cybersecurity training and preparedness initiatives within the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Cybersecurity Exercise Planner will support the planning, design, and execution of cybersecurity-focused exercises in support of USCENTCOM. You will contribute to all phases of the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC), from initial planning to after-action reporting, ensuring that exercises effectively address evolving cyber threats and support USCENTCOM's mission objectives. This position requires a strong understanding of the Joint Planning Process (JPP), experience with exercise development, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Responsibilities:
Exercise Planning & Development:
Develop comprehensive exercise plans and directives, applying operational art and operational design principles within the JELC.
Provide cybersecurity expertise and planning support in the development of exercise support plans for USCENTCOM exercises.
Contribute to the design, planning, organization, and execution of Command Post Exercises, Staff Exercises, or Field Training Exercises at the Combatant Command or Service-Component level.
Develop realistic Master Scenario Events Lists (MSELs) or simulation control injects that accurately replicate the operational environment.
Incorporate lessons learned and newly developed tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) into exercise scenarios.
Collaboration & Coordination:
Facilitate collective problem-solving and analysis to identify and implement new solutions and best practices.
Collaborate with exercise planning elements to establish objectives, priorities, and plans for joint exercise programs.
Work effectively with staff at all levels to ensure exercise procedures and after-action lessons learned requirements are met.
Participate in working groups, conferences, and meetings to support unit exercise requirements and ensure synchronization across the community of interest.
Provide input to briefings, transition concepts to execution, and assist in the coordination of joint operational planning in support of exercises.
Analysis & Reporting:
Monitor and review strategies, doctrine, policies, directives, and instructions from higher echelon headquarters to ensure compliance and consideration in planning efforts.
Conduct in-depth research to support specific exercise operations, lessons learned, and TTPs.
Author comprehensive meeting notes, after-action reports, exercise support products, and other documentation to support Exercise Team and FUOPS Branch requirements.
Develop after action reports that meet exercise requirements
Provide input to address shortfalls, prioritize and validate requirements, and modify planning efforts based on the changing Cyberspace environment.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor's Degree with a focus in computer science, engineering, or a related field or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
Certification: Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
Experience: 5+ years of related experience
Technical skills:
3+ years of experience as a Joint Exercise Planner
2+ years of experience in the USCENTCOM AOR
Experience leading or significantly contributing to the design, planning, and execution of Command Post Exercises, Staff Exercises, or Field Training Exercises at the Combatant Command or Service Component level.
Knowledge of exercise coordination and exercise design.
Security clearance level: TS/SCI clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with briefing and delivering training to senior military and civilian leaders (U.S. and foreign).
Experience with exercise planning at the Service Component or Combatant Command level.
Familiarization with project management processes and principles.
Knowledge of the Joint Training Program (JTP) and JELC doctrine and processes.
Advanced Service Planner Certification (SAMS, SAASS, or JAWS).
Familiarity with information platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, OneBrief, PCTE, Joint Training Program, and/or Advana.
SAMS Graduate
Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission
Knowledge and familiarity with USCENTCOM’s IT environment.

The likely salary range for this position is $106,250 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Scheduled Weekly Hours:
