Job Description

  

Job Summary:

Supports analysis and facilitates resolution of cybersecurity tickets in the IT service management system. Monitors systems for threats, investigates security alerts, helps implement security measures, analyzes vulnerabilities, prepares reports, and assists senior analysts in protecting company systems to intercept and prevent cyber-attacks. Assists in incident response activities, including researching attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems’ security countermeasures. Works with cross-functional groups to align operational activities with standards and policies. Monitors effectiveness of cybersecurity tools and controls to ensure required visibility. Identifies systemic weaknesses and recommends plans necessary to improve cybersecurity. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate resolution of cybersecurity tickets received via the IT service management system.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Observe cybersecurity tools for unusual activity or potential unauthorized activity.
  • Initial Investigations: Review security events, investigate alerts, and analyze suspicious files to determine if they’re legitimate threats or false positives and escalate issues as needed.
  • Software Support: Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining security software.
  • Reporting: Create reports detailing threat activity, cybersecurity events, and compliance status.
  • Documentation: Appropriately log actions, investigations, and findings for future reference.
  • Conduct security research in keeping abreast of latest security issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of information security principles, including risk assessment and management, threat and vulnerability management, incident response, and identity and access management.
  • Broad technical knowledge, extensive knowledge of current and upcoming IT security technologies and techniques that cover all levels of IT architecture, including those that affect business processes, data, applications, & networked systems infrastructure, as well as their effects on a diverse computing environment and a passion to stay abreast of emerging technologies.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, & able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a significant focus on attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative problem solving and ability to work closely with others.

Other Qualifications:

  • Industry Certifications: Network+, Security +, CISA
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated network protocols and concepts.
  • Experience with modern networking and security technologies.
  • Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies, with the flexibility to handle multiple high-pressure situations simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of people and roles, including vendors, IT, and business personnel.
