Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Staff Cyber Systems Engineer or Consulting Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
In this role you will be responsible for Cyber Systems Engineering/Cybersecurity duties throughout Systems Engineering V with an emphasis in the area of Systems Security Engineering. You’ll need to rely on the following skills: Linux/RHEL, bash scripting, Ansible, Atlassian Suite, ACAS and SCC scanning, patching and applying STIGs, C++, Python, virtual machines (KVM/QEMU, VMware/Vcenter), container technology such as podman and advanced knowledge of RMF, DFARS, and CMMC. You’ll find this position of interest especially if you studied in one of the following engineering disciplines: Anti-Tamper, systems security architecture, network architecture, software, aerospace, electrical, or data systems. Finally, you will need excellent verbal, written communication and team building skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and significantly diverse assignments, ability to tailor communication to audience, and be comfortable leading and mentoring large teams with talented Cyber Systems Engineers and from other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities will include your:
- Demonstrated expertise in large system development, integration, test processes, with a strong emphasis on technical analysis and systems security engineering.
- Proven ability to drive technical initiatives as an individual contributor, managing complex tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers, cross-functional teams, and management.
- Extensive background in Anti-Tamper Systems Engineering
- Familiarity with all phases of engineering including concept of operations, testing, integration, and operational execution.

Basic Qualifications:
At a Senior Staff Cyber Systems Engineer Level:
- Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 14 years of relevant professional / military engineering experience OR a Master’s degree and at least 12 years of relevant professional /military engineering experience OR a Ph.D. and at least 10 years of relevant professional / military engineering experience.
At a Consulting Cyber Systems Engineer Level:
- Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 16 years of relevant professional /military engineering experience OR a Master’s degree and at least 14 years of relevant professional / military engineering experience OR a Ph.D. and at least 12 years of relevant professional engineering experience
At Both Levels:
- Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
- Must have previous professional / military experience with the following: Linux RHEL, bash scripting, Ansible, virtual machines, applying STIGS, and scanning with ACAS and SCC
- Must have a DOD 8570 certification: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar Experience developing Program Protection Implementation Plan (PPIP) related to Anti-Tamper.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess a DODM 8140 IASAE Level III qualification: CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, or similar
- Experience working on military aircraft / spacecraft systems
- Experience with Python and C++
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Anti-Tamper systems engineering
- Ansible automation
- Kubernetes and related technologies
- KVM/QEMU, VMware/Vcenter virtual machines
- Advanced STEM degrees in systems engineering, Cybersecurity, software engineering, or computer science
- Experience with DoD system security engineering activities
- Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a STEM field or technical management.
- Experience in developing technical proposals and statements of work related to Cyber Systems engineering statement of work.
- Well-versed in DoD systems engineering requirement development and agile engineering methodologies.
- Knowledge of cyber protocols, network architecture, and data processing operations.
Primary Level Salary Range: $183,200.00 - $274,800.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $201,400.00 - $302,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
