Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Join Westpac NZ as a Cyber Assurance Advisor and play a key role in keeping our organisation safe. You’ll be part of the Cyber Service Group, providing assurance to stakeholders on the effectiveness of our cyber security controls. As a subject matter expert, you’ll deliver measurable outcomes that track compliance and performance, helping our business remain resilient in a rapidly changing threat landscape.
• Contribute to the assessment and maintenance of Westpac’s security controls, procedures and processes.
• Support and enhance security assurance reporting, including developing metrics.
• Manage penetration testing engagements and vulnerability management, including discovery and reporting across Westpac NZ.
• Maintain information security records and documentation to provide high assurance and governance.
• Stay up to date with emerging security threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Ensure security standards and controls keep pace with changing threats and compliance requirements and are communicated across the business.
• Respond to internal customer and external supplier security assessments.
• Provide metrics and reporting on risk and compliance for leadership and executive audiences.
• Work with stakeholders and development teams to refine requirements and articulate security needs into actionable business objectives.
• Contribute actively to team agile activities, driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
• Technical skills across a wide range of operating systems, DevOps tools, security systems, network and enterprise architecture, cloud computing and virtualisation.
• Understanding of financial sector regulatory requirements and security industry best practice and standards (such as ISO27001, PCI DSS, NIST).
• Experience with issue tracking and time management systems (e.g. Atlassian Jira).
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Experience in analysis, advising, communicating and evaluating, ideally within an agile scrum framework.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of legal, policy and ethical context for security, corporate risk and security risk management, security management frameworks, technical and operational controls, personnel and physical security, and vulnerability management.
• Formal education or certification in a relevant security area (such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISO27001 Lead Auditor, or similar).
• Experience delivering presentations and engaging with senior leadership.
• Security focused analytical skills.
