We are looking for a Customer Service Engineer to join our team in Crawley, Sussex. This is a global support role with third-line support responsibilities for the Customer Service Engineering team, playing a key part in the design, build, and ongoing support of customer solutions across a complex technical environment.

What you will do

As a Customer Service Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the full production lifecycle, from initial system build and configuration through to rollout, optimisation, and support. You will:

  • Build and configure server systems from the ground up
  • Carry out pre-installation hardware and software staging and configuration
  • Support technical project builds, quality assurance activities, and solution rollouts
  • Participate in beta testing for new and modified code, providing detailed feedback to improve performance and usability
  • Provide high-level factory support to global deployment teams, first-line site administrators, and second-line factory support teams
  • Produce technical documentation including whitepapers, bulletins, installation guides, and system diagrams
  • Work within ISO processes, applying structured troubleshooting methodologies and high technical standards
  • Implement, manage, and troubleshoot backup systems, antivirus tools, data replication technologies, and server operating systems
  • Ensure systems remain secure through effective patch management and adherence to best practice
  • Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to Global Support teams
  • Take part in scheduled and rotational out-of-hours third-line support for production customer systems
     

What we are looking for

We are seeking someone who combines technical depth with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. You should have:

  • A broad working knowledge of Airport IT systems
  • Strong understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite
  • The ability to carry out independent technical research and problem-solving
  • Experience with imaging software
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools including Win32, SQL, PowerShell, and Ansible
  • Strong knowledge of server operating systems, particularly Windows Server (2012 to 2025) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Good understanding of databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, SQL Express, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and Redis
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as CrowdStrike, backup technologies, and data replication solutions
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to support complex global environments
     

Preferred qualifications

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), unless prohibited by local laws or regulations
  • Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience
