Job Description:
Customer Service
- Greets and performs Patient Check-In functions for service area using the AIDET model.
- Assure 100% accuracy in identifying the correct patient in EPIC
- Provides instructions and directions as necessary and qualified to provide quality patient experiences.
- Receives and disseminates messages regarding Patient Orders to the responsible care giver, phlebotomist or clinical lab staff.
- Communication with physicians, healthcare providers, laboratory and nursing leadership, staff, vendors, patients, patient families and visitors.
- Provides information on lab orders, specimen requirements and special instructions.
- Resolves test order related issues and helps manage add-on test requests. Maintains documentation of issues and resolutions as part of the Laboratory Quality program. Implements ICARE principles using communication skills and human relations to promote quality patient care and a productive work environment.
Clerical
- Uses and maintains a variety of office equipment such as fax machines, telephones, paging/tracking systems, printers, copiers and computers for the access and distribution of information
- Accurate entry of laboratory data into electronic systems for documentation and quality reporting.
Purchasing
- Supports inventory management needs of laboratory by organizing, unpacking and shelving supplies for use by the Service Area
Development & Training
- Enhances professional growth and development of self, department staff, other hospital personnel, community and students by participation in continuing education, and in-service training.
- Assists in the training of new personnel.
- Adds to skillset as required to support the needs of the service line.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- High School graduate or GED certificate
Specialized Knowledge:
- 100 keystrokes per minute.
- Computer literate
Kind and Length of Experience:
- 1-year clerical experience
