Customer Service Representative

Mueller – Customer Service Representative

Mueller, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries has an immediate opening for an International Customer Service Representative in our Specialty Valves Division. This position primary location is in Chattanooga Tennessee. 

As a Customer Service Representative you will work cross-functionally with several internal and external teams including Legal, Engineering, Accounting, Sales, Trade Compliance, Order Entry, Field Services and Purchasing. 

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: 

  • Develop and/or maintain solid relationships with end user personnel to enhance the customer service experience.
  • Processing POs through order entry, product complaints, return authorizations, and credits/debits in JDE E1 ERP system.
  • Provide support needed to resolve customer complaints, returns, and issues including all paperwork and follow up until process is complete.
  • Assess and address external customer needs by providing stock checks, expedites, order history-tracking shipments.
  • Act as liaison between Sales employees, customers, and manufacturing plants.
  • Work closely with Operations personnel to provide current information on expedite requests and lead times.
  • Carry out additional job responsibilities and duties as required.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Two or more (2+) years of documented work experience with direct inside sales and/or customer service support in sales, marketing, manufacturing and/or customer support.
  • Moderate degree of mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Intermediate computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint programs. 
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and gain the trust and respect of various persons throughout Mueller’s various locations and customer base.
  • Must be customer-oriented and can make quick decisions in a professional and confident manner.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of customer service and/or inside sales experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • 2+ years of international customer service experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, engineering, communications, technology, or sales-related discipline
  • Strong experience in mainframe programs that include inventory control – such as AS400/JD Edwards (JDE).
  • Familiarity with database programs such as Act/Outlook.
  • Experience with phone-based customer service support systems

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday.  Regular start time will be between 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. with an end time between 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.  This position does have a 60-minute unpaid lunch. Overtime may be required on an intermittent basis. (This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay.)
