Customer Service Representative II -LAB

EMH Main Hospital Elmhurst Full time

Hourly Pay Range:

$19.89 - $28.84 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Customer Service Rep II – LAB
  • Location: Elmhurst Hospital 155 E Brush Hill Road Elmhurst, IL
  • FTE:  Full-time 1.0 FTE
  • Hours: 10am-6:3opm Monday through Friday; Weekend rotations 6:30am-3pm
     

Brief Overview: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, answers telephone calls and provides factual information and files laboratory test results.  Processes and distributes various reports and completes forms for drop-off tests and miscellaneous charges.  Receives oral and written orders for blood draws, informs appropriate personnel and assists in coordinating assignments for phlebotomists.  Performs patient registration activities and handles supply requests.
 

What you will do:

  • Actively promotes patient satisfaction and customer service values with all staff members.  Treats patients with respect and caring.  Follows up and resolves patient complaints.   Instructs and encourages coworkers to treat patients and hospital staff courteously.  Enhances the laboratory’s image by reacting positively with all customers
  • Answers telephones and provides routine approved information to physicians, nursing personnel and other staff regarding specimen requirements, test results and so forth, and relays other calls as necessary
  • Bursts, collates and distributes various laboratory reports for assigned laboratory departments.  Maintains and files routine department reports and forms.
  • Receives oral and written orders for blood draws, informs appropriate department personnel. 
  • Completes necessary forms and paperwork for drop-off specimen tests and forwards to appropriate department.  Performs patient registration functions as necessary.
  • Responds to routine inquiries regarding lab test ordering procedures, describes procedures for collecting specimens to patients, and describes procedures for ordering tests and collecting specimens to Hospital personnel.
  • May prepare necessary lab forms for off site blood screens

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous Lab experience
