Role Overview:

The Customer Engineer (CE) will serve as the technical cornerstone of our elite, AI-augmented sales force. This role is designed for a technical expert who thrives in a "Value-Driven" engine, moving beyond commodity selling to master complex cloud architectures and Generative AI (GE) solutions for Small and Medium Scale Businesses (SMBs).

You will operate within the Quarterback sales model, acting as the primary technical specialist orchestrated by the Sales Representative to drive high-value outcomes. Your mission is to double productivity by automating technical hurdles and delivering complex AI, Data, and Security workloads.

Core Responsibilities:

Technical "Quarterback" Orchestration

  • Partner with SMB Sales Representatives to lead the technical aspects of the sales cycle, including architecture reviews, product briefings, and proof-of-concept (POC) work.
  • Identify and qualify business opportunities by uncovering deep customer pain points and identifying key technical objections early in the cycle.
  • Orchestrate the wider ecosystem by pulling in Partner Engineers or specialized Google Cloud resources for extreme technical heavy lifting when necessary.

High-Value Solution Engineering

  • Drive the "GE First" mandate by leading 100% of technical pitches with Generative AI and Google Workspace Gemini extensions.
  • Develop and maintain technical account plans and strategies, defining migration roadmaps for complex software workloads to Google Cloud.
  • Create prototype integrations and customized product demonstrations that highlight industry-specific use cases for Gemini and Vertex AI.

Discovery & Value Realization

  • Implement a rigorous "Pain-Point First" discovery methodology, transitioning from selling "products" to selling "business outcomes" such as accelerated development cycles or reduced churn.
  • Make strategic recommendations on integration strategies, enterprise architectures, and platform infrastructure to ensure a complete and optimized solution.
  • Support post-sales consumption by removing technical blockers and updating capacity plans to ensure customers realize immediate value from AI credits.

Technical Qualifications:

  • Domain Required Expertise.
  • AI & Data Deep knowledge of Vertex AI, BigQuery, and data management tools like Hadoop, Spark, and SQL.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Expertise in Linux, enterprise networking (DNS, TCP, Proxy, DMZ), and Web 2.0 development platform solutions.
  • Application Dev Experience with REST, SOAP, JavaScript, Python, and software development platforms (Java servlets, AJAX, XML).
  • Productivity Tools Power-user proficiency in Google Workspace, specifically Gemini and advanced security features.
