Bucknell University is currently accepting applications for highly-motivated, team-players to join our Facilities team as a Custodian. In this role, you will assist with the care and upkeep of the university, and create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and external guests.Job Duties:
Reports to: Custodial Supervisor
On-campus
Monday - Friday, First Shift (hours discussed at interview)
Successful candidates may be asked to work some weekends and special events.
This position is classified as essential services, and may be required to work when the campus is closed.
Performs routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces in assigned areas including classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
Collects and disposes of trash, recycling, and other waste materials according to university policies and procedures. Ensures proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials when encountered.
Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of various types of flooring including carpets, tiles, and hardwood surfaces. Performs periodic floor maintenance tasks such as buffing, waxing, and carpet shampooing as needed.
Assists with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and reporting any facility issues or damages to appropriate personnel for timely resolution. Conducts groundskeeping responsibilities, such as mulching, pulling weeds, and picking up trash outside. Assists during campus moves and events setup and breakdown.
Monitors and replenishes cleaning supplies and equipment as necessary. Keeps an inventory of cleaning materials and reports any shortages or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Follows proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment. Inspects fire extinguishers and eye wash stations monthly.
Works collaboratively with other custodial staff members and university personnel to coordinate cleaning schedules, prioritize tasks, and address specific cleaning needs or requests.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior housekeeping or custodial services
Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull, and reach above and below shoulders
Frequently lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds unassisted
Occasionally lift items up to 50 lbs that may require help or adjusting loads
Assist others in moving objects greater than 25 pounds as needed
Climb and work on stools, ladders, stairs and elevated platforms with training and safety equipment
Must use proper safety equipment for hearing, head, eye, feet (in some cases full-or part time safety shoes), hand and body is required
Daily exposure to dust, dirt, cleaning detergents and chemicals, odors, body fluids and waste, weather and temperature changes

16.00-16.00The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
