Cabrini’s Perioperative CSSD Team
At Cabrini Hospital our Central Sterilising Supply Department (CSSD) works with cutting edge sterilisation technology in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Our Central Sterilising Supply Departments located at Cabrini Malvern services 19 Operating Theatres, three endoscopy rooms and three Cardiac Catheter Labs.
Our departments have large assembly and storage areas providing an optimum working environment, where instruments are processed to the highest standard for each procedure.

What the role involves:
Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package/wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments with precision
Collaborate with theatre teams, nurses, and surgeons
Use and monitoring of Steam and Sterrad sterilizers
Use of an electronical tracking system to maintain sterilizing records to meet strict infection control standards
Processing equipment both owned and from an external vendor through our Loans department
Carry out all testing for equipment
Reprocessing of endoscopy equipment
Complete surgical set ups in preparation for surgery & the transfer of sterile items to appropriate departments
This position requires lifting instrument trays up to 7.5kgs.
What we’re looking for:
MUST have Certificate III in Health – Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent
Preferred recent experience as an Instrument Technician (12 months post certificate)
Demonstrated knowledge of sterilization standards with sharp attention to detail
High level of customer service skills with a passion for patient safety and healthcare excellence
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
Flexible working availability as may be required over a 7-day roster
Effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S in the workplace.
