Customer Service Representative III
Summary
- Leads and mentors CSR team members, providing guidance on complex freight coordination and customer service issues.
- Oversees high-priority shipments and escalated freight problems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
- Analyzes workflow and recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Serves as primary liaison for key accounts and escalated carrier negotiations.
- Directs and coordinates activities for documentation and routing of outgoing and incoming freight, including bills of lading, customs forms, invoices, and other shipping documents.
- Ensures timely and accurate shipment and receipt of goods to avoid delivery delays or losses.
- Communicates with carriers, brokers, yard jockeys, and security to maintain alignment on appointments and trailer placement.
- Investigates and resolves escalated complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shipment shortages.
- Maintains accurate records of incoming and outgoing goods and monitors compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Education and Experience
- Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher; 2–3 years of experience in freight coordination or customer service, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced analytical and decision-making skills for complex freight and compliance issues.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and advanced Excel reporting.
- Ability to train and coach team members.
- Negotiation skills for carrier and broker agreements.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance (DOT, customs, etc.).
- Strong sense of time organization, urgency, and priority.
- Effective communication skills (email, phone, in person).
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn functions outside of role.
