The Clinical Skills Education and Assessment Center (CSEAC), within the College of Medicine, is a multi-disciplinary professional skills training lab that provides education and hands-on experience in basic clinical skills and advanced surgical, ultrasound and medical scenarios in a simulated patient care setting for students, residents, medical trainees, faculty and staff from the health system, all health sciences schools and colleges, and external clients. Services include medical simulation and standardized patient programs.
The Simulation Manager provides leadership and expert guidance to faculty, instructors and staff in the application and use of simulation technology including patient simulators, task trainers, audio visual recording and evaluation platforms, as well as a variety of clinical equipment used in simulated healthcare scenarios such as ultrasound devices and telemedicine equipment and software. This position is accountable for supervision, performance management, operational planning, and resource allocation in support of simulation-based education across health sciences programs, the health system, and external clients.
This position integrates staff leadership, project, and program management within the simulation program, especially as it relates to project scoping for new simulation requests, development of necessary technical manuals and other educational materials related to simulation technology and resources within CSEAC. The Simulation Manager assures appropriate simulation resources including hardware and software are aligned with curricular goals, and ensures proper staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation. This position maintains managerial responsibility and accountability for technical and operational aspects of simulation within CSEAC and provides oversight for simulation scenario development and delivery using appropriate technology, including programming simulation equipment and instructing staff in programming methods as well as providing technical support and guidance for staff and faculty. The manager is directly accountable for the work performance and ongoing professional development of the simulation team and directs and coordinates contractor work related to selection and commissioning of simulation technology and maintains relationships with contractors and vendors to ensure service contract terms for equipment maintenance and repair are initiated and upheld.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated expertise in simulation systems, instructional technology integration, and faculty partnership in healthcare or academic settings required. Advanced training or certification in simulation, instructional technology, or related fields preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
