What this job involves:
Are you ready to join the elite ranks of Operating Engineers who keep facilities running flawlessly 24/7/365? This isn't just a maintenance job—it's a role where your technical expertise directly protects millions of dollars in infrastructure and ensures uninterrupted operations for essential services. As a Critical Operating Engineer, you'll be the frontline defender against system failures and the mastermind behind complex mechanical and electrical systems that cannot fail. Your technical prowess will maintain the digital heartbeat that powers our business operations, making you part of an elite team of technical specialists who take pride in maintaining the invisible infrastructure that powers our digital world.
What your day-to-day will look like:
• Master the command center of building systems, with a focus on generators, sophisticated electrical infrastructure (UPS, PDU, primary switch gear), and emergency backup systems that protect valuable assets
• Monitor and maintain mission-critical fire/life safety systems to ensure continuous operation
• Analyze complex system operations as a technical detective, identifying problems before they escalate and implementing swift solutions that prevent costly downtime
• Execute precision installations and repairs as a multi-disciplined technical expert
• Serve as the guardian of critical equipment, including UPS systems, generators, switchgears and other building equipment
• Orchestrate and oversee contractor activities to ensure all work meets the exacting standards required in critical environments
• Champion meticulous documentation practices and emergency protocols that safeguard operations during high-pressure situations
Required Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED
• Hands-on experience in critical facility environments, specifically with emergency generators and switchgears
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Word and Excel
• Proven track record of delivering outstanding internal and external customer service
Preferred Qualifications:
• Electrical license (Journeyman or Master preferred)
