About the Role

Consultants at Charles River Development (CRD) serve as subject‑matter experts in the implementation and upgrade of the Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRIMS). This role is critical to ensuring successful client onboarding, solution configuration, testing, training, and go‑live readiness.

You will work closely with clients and internal teams to translate business and technical requirements into robust CRIMS solutions, while providing expert guidance throughout the implementation lifecycle. Consultants are expected to develop a solid understanding of the overall CRIMS platform, with foundational proficiency in Investment Solutions and Technology.

Why This Role Matters

Charles River Development became part of State Street in 2018 and plays a key role in delivering enterprise investment management solutions for institutional investment, wealth management, and hedge fund clients. Together, State Street and CRD launched State Street Alpha, the industry’s first open front‑to‑back investment platform.

This role contributes directly to delivering next‑generation investment infrastructure and supporting innovation across cloud, data, AI, and emerging technologies.

  • Identify opportunities for functional or technical enhancements and communicate improvement ideas to Product Management.

  • Contribute to software quality by clearly documenting defects and supporting the defect resolution lifecycle.

  • Review documentation, identify gaps or inaccuracies, and recommend improvements.

  • Act as a primary domain authority for one or more CRIMS functional areas (e.g., OMS, Compliance, IBOR, Trading, FIX, Data & Reporting).

  • Lead complex solution design discussions, translating investment, operational, and regulatory requirements into scalable CRIMS configurations.

  • Provide architectural and functional guidance to project teams, ensuring consistency with CRD standards and best practices.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by proactively identifying risks, optimization opportunities, and long‑term platform considerations.

  • Mentor and coach junior consultants, reviewing configurations, test scenarios, and deliverables to ensure quality and consistency.

  • Drive functional leadership across multiple projects, supporting cross‑client reuse of patterns, accelerators, and implementation assets.

  • Partner closely with Product Management to:

    • Influence product roadmap discussions through structured domain feedback

    • Represent client and market needs based on hands‑on implementation experience

  • Lead or significantly contribute to:

    • Client workshops and design sessions

    • Solution walkthroughs for senior client stakeholders

    • Go‑live readiness and post‑implementation reviews

  • Own and enhance Best Practices libraries, implementation playbooks, and domain‑specific accelerators.

  • Act as a point of escalation for complex functional issues prior to involving engineering or product teams.
