Job Description

Home Improvement Finance Partners, LLC (HIFP) is a full-service consumer finance company that specializes in providing flexible financing programs to the home improvement industry. We are currently hiring a Credit Underwriter to join our onsite team.

As a Credit Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating credit applications and making sound underwriting decisions to manage while providing a high level of customer service to our customers.

Saturday hours required.

Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and Decision: Evaluate consumer credit applications and financial documentation (e.g., credit reports, income verification) for home improvement loans according to established company policies and risk tolerance.
  • Risk Mitigation: Ensure all underwriting decisions adhere to federal and state regulations, including but not limited to ECOA, Fair Lending laws, and company compliance requirements.
  • Condition Review: Review and clear all stipulations required for final loan approval and funding.
  • Strategic Placement: For applications that do not meet our in-house credit criteria, act as an internal "broker" to strategically place the application with the most appropriate of our partner financial institutions.
  • Lender Relationship: Maintain a deep understanding of each partner lender’s specific credit guidelines, appetite, and technology platforms to maximize approval rates and volume.
  • Facilitate Approvals: Manage the application process with partner lenders, addressing any specific stipulations or requirements they may have to secure a successful approval for the customer.
  • Collections: Initiate contact with customers whose accounts are past due to negotiate payment arrangements and resolve delinquency, adhering strictly to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in credit underwriting or a closely related field
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
