As a Credit Risk Policies and Frameworks specialist, you will contribute to the development of second-line internal control documents for credit risk, helping ING remain resilient and ahead of regulatory expectations.

This role is part of the Credit Risk Policies and Frameworks team, which acts as a strategic enabler providing credit risk management solutions that are regulatory compliant, supporting ING’s global business approach and protect its balance sheet. You will help translating credit risk regulations and concepts into policy obligations and which are detailed in underlying internal controls documents. Your work will directly contribute to ING’s ability to manage credit risk effectively across jurisdictions and business segments.

Credit Risk Policies and Frameworks Specialist reports to Lead Credit Risk Policies and Frameworks located in Amsterdam.

The Team

The Global Credit Risk department sets the credit risk strategy, ensuring that ING’s lending practices are in line with its risk tolerance and regulatory requirements and managing credit restructuring from a global and central point. Global Credit Risk plays a critical role via its credit risk policies, credit risk appetite setting and credit risk portfolio management in protecting the bank from losses due to defaults or economic downturns.

Credit Risk Policies and Frameworks

You will join a cross-functional team based in Amsterdam, collaborating with stakeholders across Retail and Wholesale Banking, Integrated Risk, and COO Risk. The team operates globally and is responsible for writing second-line credit risk internal control documents.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Credit Risk Frameworks and Policies Specialist, you will:

  • Responsible for the Credit Risk Policy framework: making sure our policies are regulatory compliant and fit for purpose to manage the Credit Risk of ING.

  • Maintain an archive of credit risk internal control documents and ensure publishing and adequate administration.

  • Actively contribute to shaping new Credit Risk regulations.

  • Explain policy requirements in the organisation and to the supervisor/regulator.

  • Participate in regulatory and audit engagements (e.g. ECB, CAS, KPMG), supporting timely responses and remediation planning.

  • A University degree in a relevant field.

  • 3–6 years of experience in credit risk or related domains.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and a structured approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to identify problems and collaborate with senior colleagues to resolve them.
