Job Description Summary

The Credit Risk Data Strategy Specialist is a subject matter expert in the data ecosystem used by the Retail Risk Management (RRM) team for the development and monitoring of credit risk strategies, loss forecasting, reporting, testing and insights activities. Directly reporting to the RRM AVP, this role is responsible for managing and maturing our pipeline of data use cases and provides thought leadership in the development of RRM's Credit Risk Data Strategy on TD's cloud platform. This is a key role in the team's successful adoption of cloud data analytics and AI capabilities to drive productivity and speed of delivery. In addition, this role will own and enhance the data controls governing the access and usage of data elements required by RRM, ensuring timely adherence to the evolving requirements of the Bank's data governance framework and current regulations.

Job Description

  • Inform and evolve RRM's cloud data strategy, proactively identifying and recommending new data use cases through the development of strong working relationships with RRM leaders and teams.
  • Own, manage and enhance the intake process of data use cases, being the central point of engagement with technology and control partners, and the gatekeeper for new intakes.
  • Design, mature, and maintain the RRM's data controls framework to achieve internal audit-readiness and regulatory compliance. Partner with the Enterprise Data Management Office to proactively adapt the framework as requirements evolve.
  • Own, manage and enhance RRM's data access processes, and work with compliance, privacy and technology partners, to ensure adherence to requirements and timely access to data. Proactively identify and implement improvements to accelerate time-to-access.
  • Manage and monitor usage of RRM's analytical zones on TD's cloud platform, including access requests, owner attestations, and ongoing monitoring of data usage and data retention rules. Escalate and document concerns as appropriate.
  • Champion cloud data analytics capabilities and data governance literacy within the RRM team, including rolling out new trainings, templates and processes.
  • Develop strong working relationships with compliance, privacy, technology, and internal audit functions to continuously assess and enhance RRM's data controls. Act as RRM's representative in Data Governance forums.
  • In partnership with technology, coordinate change management for metadata and data classification updates, and manage downstream impacts on RRM users and processes through proactive communications.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to RRM's executive leadership team.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or
  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • Ability to establish and leverage working relationships across diverse groups within the Bank.
  • Fluency in information technology control concepts in the areas of data warehousing, data management, change management, and access to data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent process improvement skills including the ability to evaluate procedures and implementation of improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong organizational awareness.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrates a ‘sense of urgency’ where required.
  • Independently organized, with the ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous tasks and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure ecosystem is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with credit risk data is considered an asset.
