This job is primarily responsible for the assisting with managing the credit department by managing the company’s credit exposure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with various locations, staff, and customers on credit related issues, assisting with the design and implementation of processes to improve cash flow and reduce receivables, minimizing bad debt write-offs, preparing various reports, completing analysis of information, servicing internal and external customers, and maintaining a good working knowledge of significant customers.

In this job, you will:

All job duties may or may not be performed by all job incumbents, may vary dependent on assigned department and/or supported business line.

  • Assist with all credit functions, according to policies, from obtaining credit application and financials to the compilation of the credit file for the production of workflows for approvals, communicating the approvals and rejections.
  • Monitor, manage, and report on Accounts Receivables for over limit and past due balances; working with managers for solutions.
  • Complete annual and/or semi-annual reviews on account according to credit limits.
  • Work with management on credit projects for board approved customers and customers over specified amount (currently 2 million dollars).
  • Maintain master credit file spreadsheet with all customer financial information; coordinate entry of credit limits in multiple software systems and ensure allocations balance.
  • Maintain business line application pipeline to assist sales staff; log all reviews, new customers, and credit line increases.
  • Review portal for accounts over approved credit limit.
  • Identify risk associated with authorizing additional credit to customers.
  • Support sales with balanced risk management.
  • Negotiate payment plans, as needed.
  • Monitor high-risk customers.
  • Monitor alerts from DNB and Bankrupt Debtor Daily Report, communicate with appropriate managers.
  • Prepare various reports, distribute to management and/or sales staff as needed/requested; provide report to third party credit groups (i.e. NACM, DNB, CRM, etc.).
  • Perform related work, such as set up new customer accounts, scanning files, and maintaining electronic credit files.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the Credit Document Warehouse, including scanning, uploading and editing documents in the warehouse.
  • May assist with management/supervision and coaching of assigned staff, including hiring, scheduling, promoting, performance related issues, and firing; as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Here’s what you’ll need to be considered:

Education

Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Experience

Required – 5 years’ experience in credit management or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred – Experience in agricultural business.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of credit reporting agencies, including D&B and Equifax.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit-related regulations.
  • Working knowledge in reading/interpreting financial statements for the purpose of underwriting credit.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Database and spreadsheet applications skills, including data reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage and coach subordinates, including ability to communicate regarding performance.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Sedentary work.  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Ability to sit and/or stand continuously.

Hearing.  Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment.

Travel, minimal travel required for meetings (e.g. 4 out of state annual overnight meetings).

The expected base pay range for this role is:

$58,272.00 - $75,513.00

Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job. Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular period of time.
