Summary:
MediaNews Group is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Credit & Collections Supervisor to join our finance team. This key position is responsible for the management of credit, collections, and cash applications processes for all properties (newspapers) owned by MediaNews Group.
What You Will Do:
Foster strong relationships with field representatives in advertising and property Publishers
Develop and implement best practices related to credit, collections and AR activities; reporting, communications, and team development
Create an environment and culture that fosters process improvement, high performance teams, employee growth, extraordinary customer service, and market-driven competitiveness in Credit and Collections
Establish productivity and quality performance measurements, monitoring performance against established goals, and coaching employees on process improvements
Serve as the key contact for several banks and lockbox firms
Own and enforce all Credit & Collections policies, controls, processes and procedures
Be the key contact for Sales personnel at field locations
Perform as the “subject matter expert” for BPS, Mactive, interfaces, software upgrades, testing, etc
Ensure all documentation is SOX compliant, up-to-date, accurate and easy to understand
Hire, train, and motivate the Credit & Collections team
Perform salary review/administration for the Credit and Collections team
Coordinate integration of new Properties into the Shared Services Center
What You Will Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Finance, Accounting, or Business)
5+ years of comprehensive Accounting/business experience across all aspects of the position
3+ years of supervisory experience in a finance or collections environment
Knowledge of automated credit and collections systems
Proficiency in a major ERP system (e.g., JD Edwards, Oracle, or SAP)
Strong sense of urgency and exceptional customer-focused communication skills (written and verbal)
Accounting process and controls knowledge, including the ability to resolve and negotiate financial matters
Exposure to, or experience with, PBS and/or Mactive is strongly preferred
Benefits and Compensation:
The salary range is $52,000 - $55,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
