About the Position
Position Overview: The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit risk management process within the organization. This role involves assessing the creditworthiness of potential clients, managing existing credit accounts, and developing credit policies to minimize financial risk while maximizing profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Assessment:
- Evaluate credit applications and analyze credit data to determine the creditworthiness of potential clients.
- Perform financial analysis and risk assessment on existing and prospective clients.
- Policy Development:
- Develop, implement and maintain credit policies and procedures to ensure effective risk management.
- Regularly review and update credit policies based on industry standards and regulatory changes.
- Account Management:
- Monitor accounts receivable and manage collections processes to minimize overdue accounts.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve credit issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on credit risk, outstanding receivables, and aging accounts for senior management.
- Analyze trends in credit risk and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor credit department staff, providing training and support as needed.
- Foster a collaborative team environment to achieve departmental goals.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies related to credit and collections.
- Stay updated on changes in credit laws and regulations.
About the requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in credit management or related financial roles.
- Knowledge of credit scoring and risk assessment techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication - both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to function as part of a team.
- Strong Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills to process high volume credit applications on a timely basis.
- Ability to research problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and efficiently works under pressure within time essential constraints.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification (e.g., CBA, CCE) is a plus.
- Experience in Transportation & logistics is desirable.
