Job Overview:

At our New Ulm location, we make processed cheese.  The work here is fast paced and we reward hard work and strong performance.  The Operator is responsible for all secondary packaging in Filling which includes:  Box Machines, Carton Closers, Case packers, Combi/Robot/Taper, Converger and miscellaneous conveyors.    The work consists of many tasks of medium complexity and is moderately due to numerous machines throughout the department.  Works from verbal and written instructions and performs without close supervision. Work requires simple mathematics and elementary statistical interpretation.  This person must be familiar with the operating procedures and the quality specifications of uncased and cased product.  Must ensure proper code dating correct shippers and the labels correspond for the products being run.  This operator will perform minor mechanical adjustments to equipment operated.    

Responsibilities & Duties:

Places foil rolls on formers, plastic liners on bulk line and stretch wrap roll stock on shrink wrap and adjusts as necessary. Responsible for filling case packer corrugate, box machine corrugate and cartons. Removes scrap cardboard, waste and pallets from area. Attends to minor machine malfunctions; clears jams, removes defective packages, cleans equipment for proper function. Assisting all other areas of the room, as needed. Responsible for filling glue pots and replenishing tape on tapers. Stack off when necessary. Assist Palletizer Operator when needed. Assist in changeovers of packaging equipment. Monitor spiral cooling system and correct temperatures Empty all products from Spirals, Case packer, Comb, PMI and conveyors at shutdowns Oscar Boards Make minor adjustments to the equipment for quality product. Complete on-line checks and file records. Document all traceability of supplies/ingredients. Read production schedule to verify running the correct product.  Changeovers and Shutdowns.

Sanitation:

Assists in cleaning pipes and equipment during changeovers. Completes full sanitation as required. Performs housekeeping in work area and keeps area clean. Performs interdictive cleaning at the required frequencies.

Quality:

Performs periodic quality checks:  seals, package integrity and square cartons. Performs weight control, check weigher and x-ray checks at required frequencies. (Quality Suites) Code dates and labels must be present and legible on all required packaging.  All required lab samples must be pulled and labeled. Product temperature must be monitored and documented per quality procedure. Follow all plant GMPs.

Safety:

Follow all general safety rules. Use caution around moving equipment. Use all appropriate LO/TO. Refer to the Kraft Heinz handbook for Performance Standards and Guidelines. Hand Truck training Fork Truck training if needed

Lifting Requirements:

Handles 30 lbs. or less frequently and up to 80 lbs. infrequently.

  • High School Diploma/GED Preferred.
  • Previous Manufacturing Experience Preferred.
