About the Position

As a Courtroom Clerk Lead, you will play a vital role in shaping the performance and professionalism of our courtroom staff while making a meaningful impact on the justice system and the community we serve. In this leadership position, you’ll collaborate with Courtroom Services Supervisors to design, implement, and document comprehensive training programs for Courtroom Clerks. Your focus will be on developing knowledgeable, skilled professionals who ensure accurate, timely, and effective support for the courtroom and the judicial division.

As the primary trainer and subject matter expert, you’ll lead instruction on general Courtroom Services policies and case-specific procedures, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and public service. By establishing a solid foundation for courtroom operations, you will contribute to fair and efficient judicial proceedings, leaving a lasting impact on individuals and families throughout the community.

This position is located at the Southeast Juvenile facility at 1810 S. Lewis. You will be required to work weekends occasionally, and there will be a future opportunity for a flexible/hybrid schedule

We Require

  • Five years of experience performing advanced clerical functions such as minute taking, preparing reports, composing and typing correspondence, and transcribing from audio or handwritten materials, which includes two years of experience as a Courtroom Clerk

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Post-secondary education may substitute for two years of the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions

  • Provide one-on-one and/or group training, including cross-training to Courtroom Clerks

  • Prepare and maintain training materials and present sections of the orientation program to new Courtroom Clerks

  • Participate, provide input, and learn new programs/processes to create training for Courtroom Clerks

  • Monitor the training of multiple Courtroom Clerks simultaneously, which may include identifying and coordinating with seasoned Courtroom Clerks to provide one-on-one training

  • Review, audit, and monitor trainee Clerks’ work product for completion, accuracy, and productivity in accordance with established performance expectations

  • Document the progress of each trainee; prepare and provide documented training status reports, including milestone accomplishments and areas of concern needing correction, to include in the Clerks’ introductory performance reviews

  • Assign and manage workload; may assist with scheduling court coverage and monitoring work and time restraint compliance

  • May assist with the Courtroom Clerk recruitment process

  • Perform quality assurance audits to ensure the highest quality and timeliness standards are being met; may perform quality assurance audits at the supervisor's request; maintain statistical data for status reports

  • Maintain confidentiality of information and materials in accordance with policies, court orders, statutes, and rules

  • Serve as a Courtroom Clerk, providing court coverage when needed

  • Assist with Courtroom Services policy/procedure updates

  • Mostly office setting in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.   • Ability to frequently ascend and descend 1-3 steps to the work area, with or without accommodation

  • Ability to lift boxes or other items up to 20 pounds and carry, push, or pull from one courthouse to another

  • May require travel to and from job-related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles on County business
