Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, provides support to the daily operations of the violation bureau and performs related duties as required. Participates as a member of a team to provide excellent customer service. With strong attention to detail, performs financial transactions and provides various administrative functions to process and maintain accurate information and records.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Performs customer service administration duties such as answering phones, greets the public, answers routine questions, and refers visitors to appropriate areas. 

  • Interacts with departments/agencies who file summonses with the court. 

  • Disseminates accurate information regarding current case status, dispositions, and court-ordered sanctions to departments, the public, and other agencies, such as the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, CCIC/NCIC, Probation Departments, Motor Vehicle Division, and United States Military Office of Personnel Management. 

  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures set by Court Administrator, Judge, state statutes, and local ordinances.  

  • Process system entries for traffic, general, animal, photo, and parking violations, including data entry, payments, and deferred judgments. 

  • Addresses customer complaints regarding parking violations and makes determinations regarding the applicability of suspension criteria; proactively educates the public to deter further parking violations. 

  • Administers court dockets, issues warrants, writs, outstanding judgments, and defaults per judges’ orders. 

  • Purges closed files in accordance with record retention guidelines. 

  • Other duties outlined by the supervisor. 

  • Monitors and ensures integrity of large amounts of cash in accordance with financial requirements. 

  • Assesses the accuracy of bonds submitted. Processes and maintains accurate and detailed records of personal recognizance, cash, and surety bonds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in word, excel, and other computer platforms.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong computer and technology skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally charged environment.

  • Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with department policies and procedures.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain Colorado Bureau of Investigation operator security number.

  • Skill in courteous and effective communication.

  • Must successfully pass a background check before first day of work and maintain acceptable screening.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.

  • Ability to demonstrate experience in cash and payment handling to include e-payments.

  • Knowledge of the Boulder Revised Code.

  • Knowledge of court legal databases.

  • Knowledge of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation system. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  

  • 0 - 2 (zero - two) years experience performing relevant duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Physical and mental effort: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.  Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials.  Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment.  Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in an office setting. 

  • Work environment: Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment.  Works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.   

  • Machines and equipment used: Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/ or operating a keyboard.
