Course Description

The Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, is seeking applications for a Course Lecturer for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach PHGY560, Light Microscopy for the Life Sciences.

Responsibilities

Teach 2x2 hour lectures per week.

Implement 5 tests and 6 assignments throughout the term.

Choose seminar journal articles for students.

Guide students for oral presentations and evaluate seminar presentations.

Run hands on laboratory activities as part of the course.

Supervise two teaching assistants who will contribute as lab assistants and markers for the course.

Implement and mark an end of term take home exam.

Provide final marks to the department of physiology.

Other main responsibilities include:

Upload teaching PowerPoint presentations to MyCourses

Oversee teaching assistant marking of tests and assignments, marking final exams

Enter grades on MyCourses

Record lectures on Zoom and upload recorded content if appropriate

Interact with students and approve class absences as appropriate

Teaching Qualification Requirements

Ph.D. in bioimaging or related field or MSc plus practical experience totaling 5 years.

Experience in coordinating and teaching is an asset.
