Counterintelligence Analyst Subject Matter Expert (SME)

SMX is seeking a Counterintelligence Analyst Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide advanced analytical support to special operations mission sets. The ideal candidate will utilize expert-level knowledge of counterintelligence (CI) principles to assess threats, vulnerabilities, and activities of foreign intelligence entities. This role requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance national security objectives.

This position requires a DoD TS/SCI security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed counterintelligence assessments and produce finished intelligence products, briefings, and reports
  • Analyze foreign intelligence entity activities targeting US interests
  • Identify and assess insider threats, cyber espionage risks, and technological vulnerabilities
  • Lead or support working groups, planning sessions, and operational briefings
  • Prepare threat and vulnerability assessments leveraging classified and open-source information
  • Develop collection requirements for intelligence gaps; coordinate with collection managers
  • Advise leadership on CI trends, threats, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other analysts
  • Ability to deploy as needed

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Intelligence, Security Studies, International Relations, or related discipline
  • 8+ years of counterintelligence analysis experience in federal, military, or intelligence community environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in CI tradecraft, analytic methodologies, and intelligence cycle
  • Extensive experience producing all-source analytical products for operational use
  • Proficiency with intelligence analysis tools and databases (e.g., Palantir, Analyst Notebook)
  • Valid US Passport
  • Excellent communication skills—experience briefing senior leadership
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

The proposed salary for this position is:
$98,000$150,000 USD
