The successful candidate will report to the Director, Industrial Performance Legal Team, and be primarily responsible for multiple facets of the Company’s legal affairs including:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Key legal collaborator for project execution: proactively guiding change order and dispute avoidance to mitigate litigation risk in close coordination with project execution teams and executive management;

  • Assisting the supply-chain management team with procurement concerns and the execution of all agreements necessary for the Company’s execution of purchases with 3rd party suppliers;

  • Assisting the subcontracts management team with the preparation and negotiation of agreements necessary for the Company’s execution of major projects, including construction contracts, equipment supply agreements, pipeline construction agreements, rights of way and easements, change orders, and settlement agreements;

  • Strategizing and facilitating 'back-to-back' flow-down from primary customer contracts;

  • Advancing informal dispute resolution and claim preparation in coordination with project execution teams and executive management;

  • Coordination with project execution teams, executive management and outside counsel to nurture alignment in mediation, litigation and arbitration, and negotiate change orders and settlement agreements;

  • Partner with outside counsel with a focus on 'budget-first' litigation management;

  • The preparation and negotiation of agreements necessary for the Company’s execution of sales with 3rd party customers;

  • Within the Industrial Performance Legal Team, contribute to harmonization and standardization of the templates and exchange of experience;

  • Ideally, you bring the capability to multitask, prioritize and navigate a large range of diverse issues;

  • Developing and sharing training on various topics, including contract negotiation, claims management, discovery;

  • Coordinating and collaborating with other Air Liquide departments with respect to procurement, contract negotiation, corporate governance, compliance, tax, and intellectual property matters impacting projects and the Company;

  • Providing on-going legal advice to executive management members with respect to project development and construction, strategic initiatives, corporate planning, and fostering customer relationships.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree .

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited school of law, master’s degree in law, or equivalent.

  • Have 4-6+ years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience, with an emphasis on litigation/arbitration of major infrastructure project construction disputes, together with providing advice to project execution teams on major infrastructure project disputes

  • Qualification to practice law in one or more states, and have or be pursuing membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar

  • Possess strong analytical skills and problem-solving mind-set

  • Be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, communicating within all levels in an international organization, and especially with executive management

  • Be able to work independently; take initiative and drive processes with little guidance

  • Project development, construction, dispute resolution and international law experience preferred

  • Be able to use legal tech tools, including AI-powered ones

  • Be flexible and adaptive in handling urgent matters

  • Be able to travel both within the United States and abroad to perform project deep-dives at construction sites.
