POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cost Accounting Assistant Manager will be responsible for managing key aspects of inventory and cost accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting internal and external audit processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in standard costing, SAP ERP systems, and manufacturing or product-based accounting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

· Supervise SAP Standard Cost Creation - Supervise and review the input of semi-annual and periodic standard cost updates within SAP. Ensure accurate product costing across multiple business units by collaborating with supply chain, operations, and finance teams.

· Review of GR/IR Accounts - Oversee the analysis of Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt (GR/IR) accounts. Identify and resolve aging discrepancies in a timely manner, and partner with cross functional teams to clear outstanding balances. Ensure routine processes are completed for month-end close.

· Variance Analysis - Perform monthly analysis of purchase price variances. Provide actionable insights and work closely with operational teams to explain key drivers and recommend improvements.

· Month-End Inventory Accounting Close - Supervise the month-end close process related to inventory accounting. Ensure accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and timely reporting of inventory balances in accordance with accounting standards and corporate policies.

· Assist with Audit Requests - Serve as a liaison for internal and external audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting. Prepare supporting documentation and respond to audit inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

· Assist in the continuous improvement of standard operating procedures and internal controls related to inventory processes.

· Provide analytical support for ad hoc requests from finance, supply chain, and operations leadership.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the creation of standard costs, ocean landing rates, and various other pricing conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: 5-8 years of experience in cost accounting or inventory accounting, preferably in a retail or apparel environment.

Strong knowledge of SAP ERP systems, particularly in costing modules.

Solid understanding of US GAAP, inventory accounting principles and SOX compliance.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).

CPA, CMA, CA or other advanced certifications preferred.

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).

Ability to work effectively across time zones and international teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on driving efficiencies and reducing operational risks.

Ability to handle multiple priorities, changing deadlines, and deal with ambiguity.
