Cost Accounting and Inventory Specialist

Job Description Summary

As a Cost Accounting and Inventory Specialist, you’ll own the valuation, tracking, and analysis of inventory across raw materials, work‑in‑progress, and finished goods, while partnering closely with finance stakeholders to drive clean month‑end closes and meaningful variance insights. Your analytical expertise will directly support financial reporting, compliance, and data integrity, helping the organization deliver timely, reliable reports that enable confident business decisions.


 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standard costs for packaging materials, finished products, and samples.
  • Analyze cost variances by investigating differences between actual costs and established standards.
  • Manage inventory valuation, reconcile inventory accounts, and oversee physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, inventory reconciliations, and reports on scrap, obsolescence, and adjustments.
  • Deliver analytical support to managers for financial decision‑making, general projects, and finance shared services activities.
  • Support accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting, including profit and loss analysis and internal reporting.
  • Assist senior colleagues with financial analysis, project reporting, and maintenance of fixed asset and general ledger data.

Essential Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or inventory control environments.
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to support inventory valuation, reconciliations, and variance analysis with high attention to detail.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English to support global reporting and collaboration.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and data management.

Desirable Requirements

  • Hands-on experience using SAP Enterprise Resource Planning systems in a finance or accounting context.
