The Cost Accountant will be part of a global project team with a strong focus on ERP system implementations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate product costing, inventory and master data across the businesses that are migrating to core ERP systems. The cost accountant will participate in a variety of tasks within each project such as data conversion, data integrity checks, inventory accuracy and testing costing data flows correctly to end systems. There will also be a portion of the role that supports the ongoing maintenance of certain data from the projects implemented.
Key Responsibilities
Project Work
Participate in ERP implementations, upgrades, and system enhancements specific to cost accounting and inventory.
Within each project you will partner with other finance project team members to understand the data from the source ERP and how that needs to be converted to the new ERP. Training will be provided on data fields and validations that need to be performed with the focus on improving the accuracy of SKU costing and master data as we get closer to the go live of the project.
Participate in test cycles throughout the project life cycle as we complete both unit testing and support end to end testing of costing and inventory data, including testing in both ERPs and other systems such as data warehouses or Power BI.
Partner with other team members on the validation of the new value of inventory when it moves ERP and understanding through multiple conversion cycles the drivers for any large inventory revaluations and offering remediation where appropriate.
Participate in post go live support for projects with a focus on identifying any large variances and working to re-roll costs if appropriate or providing correcting entries ahead of month end.
Engage cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and support data-driven decision-making.
Explore and then put into practice how AI and automation can enhance cost accounting processes and data analysis in projects. .
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience ideally in a manufacturing environment.
Strong expertise in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar) with hands-on experience in implementations or major upgrades.
In-depth knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
Experience participating in a global cost roll.
Flexibility to work across time zones to support global teams and projects.
